This is the finalized image that I did for a friend who was to help with a film he was creating to promote awareness for the impact of veteran suicide. It was a personal piece and one of a series that I never truly got to finish. Below, I will explain my process along with how I got from the start to the end.

Drawing with a line is still something I struggle with, but bear with me as I start this out, as there is a method to my madness. I am focusing more on the idea of the body and where things technically lie, as the lines are more of a guide for me and not the law, as when I paint, I rely on the references and overall feel.

Here is another process abomination as I am focusing on blocking out and light values to solidify the form. This step still uses the lines as guides before I finally step away from them to actually start painting.

This is where I am focusing on applying details, rendering, and focusing on proportions. During this time, I normally work on one layer, painting over any mistakes while still rendering and playing with values. After some more touches, you get the final image below.
